Eric Meyers
Eric joins the OU staff for the first time in the inaugural College Premier League season. Coach Meyers will be responsible for the forward pack, particularly the tight five.
Eric is currently in a 2008 graduate of The University of Oklahoma and a 2nd year student at the OU College of Law. He played rugby for the college side at OU for all of undergrad and his first year of law school. Eric is an honor student at the OU College of Law, and has earned 2 American Jurisprudence awards, given to the student with the highest score in a course.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Eric started playing rugby in high school for the Kansas City Jr. Blues. He was a member of the Heart of America select side twice, and attended several Under-19 Eagles selection camps.
At OU, Eric was a fixture in the starting lineup for the entirety of his career. He started as a prop his freshman year before moving to the back of the pack at number 8 for the next 4 years. Eric served as OU’s Captain for the 2007-2008 season. He was a four time member of the Central League All-Star team, and received multiple invites to the West Collegiate All-Stars.
Besides OU, Eric’s rugby career has taken him around the country. He spent the summer of 2006 playing for the Gentlemen of Aspen. In Aspen, he played 15s in the Mountain League, and competed on the USA Rugby 7s Circuit. Eric has also played 7s and 15s for the Kansas City Blues. He has competed in the MBA World Cup representing Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business on two occasions.
